Steven Dow

Steven Dow is a veterinary member of the Investigative Committee and a former Board member. He was appointed to the Investigative Committee during the July 21, 2021 Board Meeting; he appears to have replaced his son, Cameron Dow, on the Investigative Committee. As a rather giggly board member noted, they were "going from Doctor Dow to Doctor Dow!" Prior to that, he had been appointed to the Board by Governor Jane Hull and served from 2001 to 2006.

Steven Dow does not appear to have been interviewed by the Board for the position. The motion to put him on the Investigative Committee was seconded by none other than Nikki Frost, who has a variety of professional entanglements with the Dow family.

A brief bio in the September 2002 issue of The Scratching Post, the veterinary board's newsletter, states that Dow received his DVM from Colorado State University in 1978 and has practiced at Prescott Animal Hospital since 1979. It also notes that he was a Vietnam veteran and Purple Heart recipient. He and his wife are also said to be very proud of their two sons.

One of those sons is Cameron Dow, whose bio at Prescott Animal Hospital states that he was the son of the previous owner of the clinic. An update to PAH Associates, LLC filed in 2016 with the Arizona Corporation Commission shows membership transferred from Steven and Janeth Dow to Cameron and Amie Dow. A similar change for a related filing, PAH Holdings, shows a similar change; Steven was listed as president of the organization for the 2015 filing year, but Cameron appears as vice-president for the 2016 filing year with Steven nowhere to be found.

Steven Dow was also on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association. The AzVMA's 1999 filing with the Arizona Corporation Commission lists Steven Dow of Prescott Animal Hospital as one of the Directors that year alongside future AzVMA President and eventual veterinary board investigator C. Jeffery Brown.

Dow was recommended as an alternate for the new and improved single-team Investigative Committee in a June 2024 staff memo.
